Olivia and the Gentle Bedtime Light

The lamp had been waiting all day for Olivia to notice.

Olivia wanted to see the lamp at its warmest honey colour. She climbed up with her rabbit to watch. One small goodnight, and then the light.

The lamp glowed, but only a little. Outside the round window, the day was still wide awake.

Olivia saw the sky going quiet. The day was leaving on its own. Nobody had said goodbye to it. So Olivia did.

“Goodnight, day,” she whispered. Then she turned away from the window and climbed into bed. One small goodnight, and then the light.

Behind her, the little lamp turned the colour of honey. The room went quiet, and the moon stayed at the window.

What happens on the other six nights

This is night one. The programme introduces the routine one step at a time, and only assembles the whole thing on the last night. A child handed the full routine at once has been given a chore list.
